Well as any parent often says ... Where did the time go? I cannot believe Madison is one. Time has flown by and we have had many adventures in Madison's first year. Party planning has been on my mind for a while, with sketches and ideas for her birthday cake and more. Maddy has held a facination with ducks for a long time, and 'duck duck' has been a part of her vocabulary for ages. So this inspired me and my ideas when it came to the cake.
On the night of the 8th of August, my sister Kate and I ventured into the decorating of the cake and cupcakes. There is always an element of nervousness as you start, hoping that it will all turn out ... and ultimately look pretty.
Hours later, the end result was BEAUTIFUL. Leaving a huge smile on my face and in my heart. Yay, it turned out well. See photos below.
Morning of 9th August 2009 (Maddy was born 4.52am a year ago), we did some present opening. Books, Pooh Bear, toys with noises (yay) ... fun times.
Then it was time to get organised. People were turning up at 11.30am and we had a lot to prepare. 11.15am and the first visitor arrives ... ummm excuse me ... where did the morning go? :)
The party was a success. Such wonderful memories. Madison took it all in her stride and enjoyed the attention and company of family and friends.
A big thank you to my sisters Claire and Kate for all your help with the party, hosting, food, planning and support. Also a big thank you to Steve and the boys - Cruiz and Chase - for helping us out - a real blessing in helping things work out smoothly.
Madison sends huge kisses and hugs to all who helped celebrate her birthday.
And lastly, to Daddy - Stuart - for being such a great daddy and being a wonderful partner and support.
Well done everyone xxx Nicole
